Lettura in Italia-Reading in Italy
If one thing has been an unexpected bonus for us whilst spending a year in Italia, it has been the discovery for Patrick of the joys of reading!
Being a young, active boy (and this is a generalisation) reading does not come high on the scale of ‘care factors’. It’s much more fun running, kicking a ball or better still…kicking your sister. However, when a boy does need a break from these wonderful distractions in Australia, they would often go watch some TV. Well over here, all the programs are in Italiano (obviously) and he needs to translate. Then it’s like doing homework in spare time!
Patrick found lying on the couch (or bed) reading as an alternative and got hooked!! First was the BIG step into reading a ‘real’ chapter book…then the Narnia series…now Harry Potter. It’s magnifico!!!
We’re off to L’Inghilterra soon so the fact that his reading and his travels are ‘relating’ (contextualising) will be a real bonus. He definitely wants to visit Platform 9 and 3/4 while were in London (click here to see why)!
